Through Inspired Learning We Achieve Our Dreams

We Are Palm!

What is my child going to learn about this term?

We have sent home a copy of the learning we have planned for your child this term. On this sheet you should find an explanation of what will be covered for each area of the national curriculum. You will also find aspects we describe as ‘memorable experiences’. These are the elements that will bring the learning to life for the children. You will also see an ‘end product’ section. Here we describe what the children are working towards; this could be a display, performance or a piece of writing. We believe this helps to give the children a focus or reason for learning the information. You will also find references made to ‘drip and block’. Drip refers to things that happen all the time, such as spellings, for example. Block refers to things that do not fall naturally into the theme and as such are taught as discreet, unrelated units.

We hope that this information, coupled with the class newsletters and the planners will give you a deeper understanding of the year your child is going to have in school. It might also give you some ideas for how you can best support them.

Our Fair Trade Movie!

We all contributed to a whole school movie, which was shown at a special movie night screening on Monday 20th March, showcasing our Fair Trade Fortnight learning.

We hope you enjoy watching our chapter from the movie!

We had a great time on World Book Day. Here are some of the characters we dressed up as.

We have been practising for our 'Big Spring Sing' at Westfield School on Wednesday 29th March. We are very excited about it and look forward to seeing you there.

We have had a very exciting half term since we returned to school after Christmas. Here are some of the things we have been learning about.

For our RE topic on leaders we interviewed some leaders that we knew - Mrs Smales and Reverend Jen. We thought of some questions we wanted to ask them about being a leader. We asked them questions such as 'What makes a good leader?', 'Why did you become a leader?' and 'What do you do in your role as a leader?'

For our Design and Technology project we have been learning about Caribbean foods. We tasted a variety of Caribbean foods and discussed different techniques to prepare them. We chopped, grated and sliced.

We have been learning about safety on the internet. For our home learning we produced posters on how to keep safe on the internet.

Magna Trip

We had a fantastic day at Magna Science Museum on Tuesday 22nd November. We took part in two workshops - The Kitchen Sink and Slimy Stuff. The children had lots of fun learning about different materials they could find at home.

Children in Need Day

On Friday 18th November it was Children in Need day. The children looked fantastic in their spotty clothes. We took part in different activities throughout the day and raised lots of money for Children in Need.

Anti-bullying Week

During our anti-bullying week - week beginning 14th November - Liam from Excel came in to school to talk to us about being positive and being a good friend. We also took part in a P4C session about anti bullying.

Harvest Farmer's Market

We had a great time during our Enterprise Week - 17th October - 20th October. We designed and made magnetic pegs with different materials. We had to work to a deadline to make sure they were ready to sell on our stall. Thank you to everyone who visited our stall and supported the Farmers Market.

On 22nd September,  Gareth Howell, a British judo coach, visited the school and taught the Y2's some judo moves and Japanese words.

On 21st September, a group of Y2's took part in the Hallam FM KS1 games at the EIS in Sheffield. They had a great time and came 5th out of 35 schools.

Well done Mosborough!!!

In school we have been discussing British Values and how they link to our values here at Mosborough Primary School.

Below is our class Tree of Values.

The value we are focussing on this half term is Being the best we can be.
